Sylvester Stallone can become a great boxing promoter since he’s doing a great job in creating the Creed 2 hype. First, he teased that Creed 2 may feature a fierce match up between the sons of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) & Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). A few days later, he told TMZ that he may throw at least one punch in Ivan Drago’s direction, teasing the return of the mighty Russian boxer from 1985s Rocky IV. Later, it was Dolph Lundgren who fueled the hype machine when he posted the video of himself training hard for supposedly Creed 2. Back in July, Stallone posted a picture of his hand-written 120-pages long (extracted out of 439 pages) screenplay draft, hinting that he finished the script of the movie. It’s no secret that Stallone is really excited about Creed 2 since he’s not being so subtle in containing the teasers. Still, it’s far too early to say what exactly fans will see in Creed 2. For now, Stallone has confirmed via social media, once again, that Creed 2 filming may begin next year.
Stallone made a post on his Instagram page featuring a picture of himself training Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) from Creed with a caption that reads: “Getting stronger!!! 2018.” Ryan Coogler who directed Creed is expected to return again to direct the much-awaited sequel. Coogler is currently busy working on Marvel’s Black Panther slated to release on February 9, 2018. This means Creed 2 may kick off shooting right after that with Coogler on the director’s chair. If not, Sylvester Stallone himself can step up and direct Creed 2 just like he directed Rocky IV back in 1985 and did an amazing job.
Creed came out in 2015 and was made on a $35 million budget. The movie went on to earn $173.6 million worldwide making it a box office success and also bagged a number of awards including Golden Globes & NAACP Image Awards. Stay tuned for more and latest Hollywood news.
