There are only 2 movies left in the franchise before the Fast & Furious Saga comes to its conclusion after 2 decades. So far the only confirm thing regarding the Fast & Furious 9 is its release date which is April 19, 2019. The Fate of The Furious director F. Gary Gray was recently promoting the home video release of the movie and teased that the FnF 9 may actually push things even further and take the fans to even outer space. He had this to say:
“Outer space? Listen, I wouldn’t rule anything with this franchise. When I read submarine I’m like ‘OK, anything’s possible’. [Laughs] You never know. I haven’t read “Dom on Mars” yet but again, you just never know.”
The franchise has so far been shot in several countries Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, Miami, Abu Dhabi, London, New York City and most recently in Cuba. The franchise is literally running out of new locals to shoot new movies and even though it seems like F. Gary Gray was joking, nothing can be written off when it comes to The FnF franchise. Currently, the franchise has a worth of $3.5 Billion and is Universal’s biggest movie franchise of all time.
Rock & Vin Diesel Feud
The first Fast and the Furious movie came back in 2001 which was shot in Los Angeles. After almost 2 decades, the franchise is still going strong. Apart from the first 2 movies, writer Chris Morgan has so far written the script of all the movies. At this point, it looks like Morgan will be the one to see the franchise home as he will write the script of the remaining 2 movies. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vin Diesel will be reprising their roles as Luke Hobbs and Dominic Torreto respectively since they have finally come to terms with each other after their feud. The two held a lot of private meetings to hash out their differences that arose during the filming of the Fate of The Furious.
Viewers will once again see the usual suspects and there are rumors that Sung Kang who played the role of Han will also make a comeback as teased by the writer Chris Morgan. Kang’s character Han was killed off in the final battle sequence of the Fast & Furious 6. Currently, there aren’t any details available as to how his character will appear in the Fast & Furious 9 but it’s confirmed that another major character may die in the Fast & Furious 9 movie.
Michelle Rodriguez May Leave Fast & Furious 9
Actress Michelle Rodriguez who plays the role of Letty as Dominic’s wife in the franchise recently threatened to leave the franchise on the issue of better treatment for the women. She’s the only female cast member to have raised the issue yet she didn’t divulge the details. There are speculations that she may be referring to the equal pay issue of the male and female actors, which is currently a hot topic in the Hollywood. Vin Diesel supported her stance on social media but currently, it’s unclear what the real issue Rodriguez is concerned about is. Stay tuned for more and latest Hollywood news.
