After the not so impressive run of The Expendables 3, franchise producer Avi Lerner and Sylvester Stallone locked horns as they both had severe disagreements about the supposedly final movie of the franchise, The Expendables 4. For a long time, it looked like the project is dead, however, thanks to Avi’s statement and Stallone’s latest social media post it looks like The Expendables 4 is still going to happen. Since its Sylvester Stallone we are talking about who loves to tease his fans about the upcoming projects just like he did with the highly anticipated Creed 2, Stallone once again took to Instagram and posted a photo from the first Expendables movie, clearly stating that the fourth movie is still happening. For now, he didn’t state when and how it is going to happen, so guess we have to wait for the next Stallone teaser post. This is what his post said:
“Just when you thought it was safe to go outside…They’re coming back!“
The Expendables franchise has been financed and produced by the Nu Image/Millennium studios to this point. After the not so great performance of The Expendables 3, which was the first PG-13 of the franchise, studio head Avi Lerner, and actor/writer Sylvester Stallone had several disagreements over the script and direction of The Expendables 4. But in light of Sylvester’s recent social media post and Lerner latest statement, it looks like they have definitely worked out their differences.
“We’ve got disagreements with Sly, but we’ve had them for over a year and a half. Right now, each one has an opinion. We agreed on 95% of things, but there are certain things in production we don’t agree on. I don’t think it’s over, but write whatever you want. In my opinion, it’s not dead.”
For now, Sylvester Stallone is busy working on Creed 2 which is set to release later this year on November 21. After that, it’s likely that Stallone will officially start working on The Expendables 4. It is expected that the franchise regulars Jason Statham (Lee Christmas), Dolph Lundgren (Gunnar Jensen), Jet Li (Yin Yang), Randy Couture (Toll Road), Terry Crews (Hale Ceaser), Arnold Schwarzenegger (Trench) and possibly Wesley Snipes (Doc) will make a return for this one as well but nothing has been made official yet. All three Expendables movies have grossed out an impressive $800 Million worldwide and that number could have been higher if The Expendables 3 would’ve been R-rated just like its predecessors. At the moment, who is going to write and direct The Expendables 4 is also a mystery and as we wait for more official news, let’s know who you would like to see in Expendables 4, enjoy Sylvester Stallone’s Expendables 4 tease and stay tuned for more and latest Hollywood news.
