After months and months of waiting, extensive reshoots and just 3 months away from officially hitting the theaters, we now have our first official trailer of Solo: A Star Wars Story. We all got a teaser of the movie just last night during SuperBowl 52 and now Disney and Lucasfilm finally released the trailer of the second Star Wars spin-off which focuses on the early life and events of one of the most beloved and iconic Star Wars characters, Han Solo. What’s even more interesting is that for the first time in the franchise’s history, someone other than Harrison Ford is going to play this role and Star Wars fans can’t wait to see whether Alden Ehrenreich really did justice to the legendary character of Han Solo. As mentioned before, Solo: A Star Wars Story is the second in the Star Wars spin-off anthology series that was kicked off by Rogue One: A Star Wars Story which made a whopping $1.056 Billion at the worldwide box office.
Solo: A Star Wars Story, is going to be a lot different than other Star Wars movies in a number of ways. For starters, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first Star Wars spin-off was based on a number of unknown characters that were introduced for the first time into the franchise, whereas, Solo: A Star Wars Story is based heavily on one of the most popular characters in the entire Star Wars franchise. In other words, this movie is going to make Star Wars fans either very happy or hugely disappointed based on Alden Ehrenreich’s portrayal of Han Solo.
The other interesting aspect to note is that unlike Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the latest entry Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Solo: A Star Wars Story will be hitting theaters in May instead of December. Disney and LucasFilm have been following this tradition due to less competition in December but with Solo: A Star Wars Story, they are going to be competing for a top spot at the box office right in the middle of 2018’s very tough summer season as some of the most anticipated movies are scheduled to arrive in theaters. This shows that Disney is feeling really confident in this spin-off and its veteran director, Ron Howard who came in to take the reigns of the movie after Disney fired Chris Miller and Phil Lord, the original directors. Solo: A Star Wars Story is written by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan and stars Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo), Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian), Emilia Clarke (Kira), Woody Harrelson (Beckett), Michael K. Williams, Ian Kenny, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Thandie Newton. Solo: A Star Wars Story is set to open in theaters on May 25, 2018.
