Usually, video game based movies don’t do great at the box office but there are some exceptions like Resident Evil and the animated Final Fantasy franchise. The same goes for another hit game based movie franchise, Tomb Raider. It was announced a while ago that Oscar winner Alicia Vikander is going to play the titular role and since then, we have been treated to some photos of her directly from the set as well. Today, we’ve received yet another awesome photo from the set of Tomb Raider and it seems like Alicia Vikander may very well pull this off. In this new photo, Vikander can be seen holding her bow and she seriously means business. It looks like this new version of Lara Croft movie is very much inspired by the award-winning Lara Croft: Rise of The Tomb Raider game which came out in 2015. Vikander’s Lara Croft looks a lot like the in-game titular character which is actually a great & realistic thing, unlike the past Lara Croft version played by a gun-slinging Angelina Jolie wearing insanely short shorts.
Tomb Raider Plot Outline & Cast
In the upcoming Tomb Raider movie, Lara Croft will be seen working as a young bicycle courier in London whose life gets turned upside down when she learns her father is missing. Lara then embarks on her very first mission to track down her missing father who is a well-known archaeologist and uncover some very ancient secrets along the way in order to clear the smeared name of her disgraced father.
The cast includes Dominic West as Lara Croft’s father, Walton Goggins as the main villain and Daniel Wu who is a ship captain and aiding Lara in her journey. The production of Tomb Raider began earlier this year and the much-anticipated movie is scheduled to hit theaters on March 18, 2018. Stay tuned for more and latest Hollywood news.
